Several Pending Lawsuits

Brooklyn Lawsuit
In this suit, the plaintiff is alleging that his work permit was illegally revoked based upon a Texas Court’s ruling. United States v. Texas
This suit was actually heard by the Supreme Court in June of this year, and the result was a 4-4 deadlock the issue; challenging expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). This means that the injunction halting the implementation of these programs stands. As an immigration attorney NYC, it’s heartbreaking to think of the millions of lives left in limbo due to the Court’s indecision on this issue.
Bond Reform in the Immigration System
The ACLU has also taken action against the way that the federal government sets bonds for those in immigration cases. Currently, the federal government has no set standard that takes into consideration an individual’s ability to pay when setting bond in immigration cases.
