ICE Agents Turned Away in New York for Lack of Warrants

New York Immigration Raids

New York Immigration Raids

The wide-scale immigration raids promised by the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have largely failed to materialize. However, at least two instances of New York immigration raids were reported on Saturday, July 13, 2019, in the Manhattan and the Brooklyn boroughs. ICE agents were unable to gain entry to the residences that they visited because of their failure to obtain warrants for these raids.

Targets in Harlem and Sunset Park

The initial reports of New York immigration raid attempts came from Harlem in Manhattan and from Sunset Park in Manhattan. Because the agents involved in these raids did not have the required warrants needed to enter homes and residential buildings legally, they were denied entry to these areas and could not make any arrests on their initial attempt. ICE officials did say they intended to make another try with the proper warrants in the Sunset Park area on Sunday, July 14.
